Dr. Hu is an Assistant Research Scientist at the I3DEA Lab in the Division of Computing Studies at ASU's Polytechnic campus. His research interests include computer graphics, visualization, statistical and geometric techniques for image processing, and computer vision. He has developed and implemented methods to segment biomedical volume data sets, including image statistical modeling and segmentation techniques with application to structural and quantitative analysis of 3D images.

Dr. Hu has published extensively in journals. Currently he is involved in projects that range from Modeling Cumulus Clouds (NSF) to Geometry Based Feature Extraction from Aerial Images (NGA).

Dr. Hu received his PhD in Mathematics from Lanzhou University, Lanzhou, China in 1994.
