Abstract

Arizona State University has developed volumetric modeling algorithms that address image processing, stroke analysis, and character matching for the analysis of handwritten documents under the guidance of Anshuman Razdan. The image processing steps enhance and refine the raw images and allow identification and extraction of blurred, stained, faded, bled-through, or transferred characters. The stroke analysis and character matching steps use a non-statistical methodology to recognize characters and words.
